Which heli to get?
#16
What would be the difference in just doing basic stuff (fwd, back, side-2-side, yaw) with the 400 compared to the CX2? If Im just using the 4ch (no 3d) is there any flight difference?
I think I might just get the CX2...and when I can master it...maybe a few months, then Ill get the 400.

Don't waste your money on a cx2. If the purpose of that heli is to learn, then buy a simulator. I bought g3 and practiced on it for a year before I bought my heli (T-rex 450se). On my second pack I was doing flips, rolls and inverted flying. So long as you download a comparable model to what you want to get, you will learn all the basics and light 3d on the sim and be able to transfer it to the real thing. In my opinion the only things the sim lacks to real fying, are depth perception, distractions and the pucker factor. As well as the exhilaration.
How does the 450se compare to the Blade 400? Besides all the bling bling

The CX will be more stable in the air once it gets out of it's own downwash. But, it is very easily pushed around by A/C ducts, fans ect.
There is pretty much no difference between flying the 2 helis.
you can fly the 400 indoors/out which is a big plus.
Believe me, helis are NOT hard to learn at all, i'd say 3-4 flights to learn how to do a tail-in hover.
Get on the Sim and see how you fair.
the 400 will be better for the long run

Another thing would be a crash with the 400 would cost alot more than a crash with the CX2.

The comparisons between the blade 400 and the T-rex 450se, I also can't tell you, as the blade 400 is new and I have not flown it. It looks to be a good machine with a decent tx but it is rtf, and because of that it does not come with the gyro or cyclic servos I would choose.

Can't tell you which sim to get. I will tell you that the best reviews are for rfg3.5 and phoenix. For phoenix you will need your own tx, but I hear it is a great simulator. Myself, I have only used rfg3, 3.5. There are swap pages at knifeedge.com where you can download models for it.

Well the 400 doesnt have the little 4 in 1 unit so if needed I can put my own servos and gyros in so its pretty upgradable.

G3.5 is a nice sim, I personally use G3.5 for online and Phenox for when i am learning new moves.
The 400 has actual electronics, no el-cheapo 4-in-1 here , Eg, (ESC/BEC, Gyro, Rx) all upgrade-able peice by peice. but the HH gyro they have on there flys well, i was doing Piroflips on it, and it held ok.

Yeah the DX6i was the thing that attracted me to the 400.
Ill be getting a Sim instead of a CX2. When I feel I can step up Ill be getting myself a Blade 400.
Thanks for all the input guys. Ill keep you updated on this thread and Im still looking for tips and info as Im still starting to fly these things!
