Brushless Main motor losing power?!
 

Hi guys!

I bought a brushless WLtoys V912 last year and had about 27 flights until I had a crash. After that I replaced some parts and got it running again and had 7 more flights with it.

In my last flight it needed more than half throttle to hover and didn't climb up at full throttle as quickly as before. Does a brushless motor lose power after just 34 flights?! Even brushed motors can last much longer than that. What could be the problem? Motor? ESC?

Brushless motor doesn't loose much power unlike brushed motor due to wear and tear, more likely sounds like your lipo battery losses it efficiency. Did you try using new lipo battery?

Maybe you are right and the battery is the culprit. I have 4 batteries and should test them all to see which is the weakest performer but there is something strange which confuses me.

I have both a brushed and a brushless V912. When I take them in my hand and test them with the same battery, it seems that brushed one produces more thrust at half throttle and its motor accelerate faster. I can feel this in my hand. But when I fly and compare them, the brushless one gains altitude faster and easier than brushed one!!

I know this is perfectly normal for a brushless motor to perform stronger but how could this be possible when brushed one generate more thrust in my hand? (I can feel it!) I mean when you test them and rev them, the brushed one seems more powerful but in the field it is the opposite!

Brushed motor/coreless motor have "torque" power which is why many people prefer brushed motor on scaler 4x4 crawler truck or 100mm micro FPV racer which i still used them today...but performance degrade once the brushed wear and tear shows some sign. Brushless just extra advantage of less wear and tear and longer stamina.
