Need advice on first boat

Looking to buy my first boat. Have owned countless cars but never a boat and i know it will be used all the time once i get it. I want a vhull boat that i can have someone paint to match the color of my dads 24 foot offshore ski race boat. Im going all in but would like to stay below $700. And of course i want to go fast (50-60mph) if possible. And it cant be too big like around 30" or less. Need someone to lead me in the right direction.

Traxxas spartan. Check out rc sparks on youtube and he got some cool vids about the boat. Good luck

Here is the MONO (Vhull) that I'd recommend:

-HobbyKing PURSUIT (32")

You can buy it ARTR with hull/hardware(strut-rudder-turn fins-trim tabs)/& a cheap motor for around $225 on Hobbyking's site. Just add Tx/Rx, servo, batts.

You can find everything you need to know at: www.offshoreelectrics.com
They also have the best (F)ast(E)lectric Boating Forum.

I have a PURSUIT that I built for my son. It runs at around 50mph now, and I have about $400 in it. With a bigger motor and prop, it would approach, and handle 60mph, no problem. If you wanted to go bigger, you can step up to a longer hull. OSE has all that in their online store.

Thanks,
-Chad

Never owned a boat, but when I see them I'm amazed at how fast they have gotten since brushless! Kind of crazy. That makes me curious to watch high speed rc boat crashes! Are they as bad as rc plane crashes? Ouch.

Hey mate..

Have you looked at the little Tenshock Mini Eco
I got one of these for my young fella and we love it... it is very small, it is self righting when you flip it.. very fast for the size of the thing

I also have a Hobbyking Genesis.. this is an awesome fast boat but does need some upgrades, which are fairly well documented. Mine spun the prop shaft right out..
You need to upgrade the tube, the shaft spring etc.. there is a kit available.. then you can put any motor and run 6S lipo if you got the skills.

Then you have the gassers.. mine is pretty slow compared to the brushless ones, but they sound awesome and there is a huge rooster coming off the back of these big girls.. Mine fits in the boot of my ford falcon easy enough. Runs on lawnmower fuel, so is very cheap to run.
