Default 53 y.o. noob w/ UL-1

Hey guys , nice to be here. I'm hoping as a noob to boating , that I may be able to pick up some information about the UL-1 I just ordered. My buddy has the Spartan and I thought I'd keep it a little more cost effective for myself. The Spartan is a bit out of my budget and the UL-1 is a better fit for me. I'm hearing some good/bad about it but I figure you guys will give me the insight !Thanks in advance and I look forward to talking with you !

I think you have been better with a revolt, a lot easier to drive for a new boater.

The Spartan can run in rougher water than the UL-1 so he's got the edge there. The UL-1 can be no sluch though with the right battery packs and prop on it. There's a few other low-cost if not free ways to make it faster and more stable. You'll also be stuck with mostly making right turns as that's what it's made to do whereas your buddy can turn both ways a lot easier. That boat has been known to make 60+MPH runs with the right setup. That was from someone who knew what he was doing though but it was still with the stock electronics.

Thanks for the input guys! I've had a mini Wildcat for awhile and it kinda gave me a small taste of boating , but just like my planes , helos , trucks , cars and sub I learn at a slow and easy pace. When I feel I have good understanding of the rig , I let it rip!

Ul1 is a great boat. Ive had a couple. Just remember buy good batteries, maintain the shaft ever run and learn how , to toss it for launch or the double tap method (quick pull on trigger let off the hammer down again) or she can sub on ya.
