Default ShockWave 26 Pro-boat questions

Hey guys i'm new to the boating thing, so far i'm really impressed the boat. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what type of plastic the hull is made out of as i was thinking about painting it. I'm not seeing any info on the website stating what the plastic it is, i'm guessing its polycarbonate?

The other question i had is what would be the better performance upgrade, going 3s or a better prop than whats stock.

Abs make sure you sand it with some high grit sandpaper and then make sure you get paint made for plastics

I have the same boat.

I painted mine when I got it because my friend has the same boat. I just cleaned it down with alcohol, masked what need to be masked, then painted it with Tamiya TS paint and then a clear coat.

As far as upgrades, I got myself a big 3s lipo and a few different sized props. The boat really moves now, almost too fast on some props.

I did finally go 3s, wow what a difference! Along the way a learned a few things pretty quickly, first off on 3s it's unstable with stock trim tab settings. I loosened the screws and moved the tabs to the bottom most adjustment, this really helped it level out and not hop across the water. Second, before i made the adjustment i almost sank it, the small gob of what looks to be Great Stuff ( spray in foam for insulating pipes) is NOT enough for flotation should you roll it over. I used one of the big pieces of styrofoam from the box in the bow. I also found the magnetic hold down system doesn't work well, iv'e lost 2 inner canopy's and now the outer due to the instability before the trim tab adjustments, I'm planning on ordering the shallow body mount wich uses body clip that comes on the Spartan and installing it.

I run this boat with 3s Lipo and I find it pretty stable at full throttle. Even in the ocean with some chop I've had pretty good luck running it

I bought one for my wife last year and she soon got bored with the stock system on 2s(like 5mins into the run lol) so now it has a 80amp esc with the stock SSS motor out of a genesis. It's a dumb amount of power on 5000 40c 3s.. I don't use the trim tabs for any adjustment. I have them set as high up as possible. I use the rudder to make my additude adjustments. Less drag this way.

Sorry guys I totally forgot about this thread I started. I did upgrade the stock plastic prop with an OEM stainless unit listed for that boat. From what little I ran it with the stainless prop I didn't notice any real difference from the stock plastic other than a slight loss in run time.
