Default Vintage gas hull goes e-ballistic!

Don't miss the epic back flip!

Here is a vintage 60's 70's gas hull that we dug out of a crawl space. We had a leftover Tekin T8 2250kv from the car world and we decided to do some R&D.

Converted to a surface drive setup, home made turn fins, vintage strut, and a new rudder from OSE. The ESC is a 180A watercooled from HobbyKing. We are running 4S.

After a couple of weeks of R&D, we finally have something. Something badazz.

It's using a silicone cooling jacket from offshoreelectrics. It stretches over the motor. Not super effective, but effective enough.

After a Summer of tweaking and tuning, we finally have something here.

We ended up going with a Leopard motor with a full cooling jacket, and 5S Lipos which runs MUCH cooler all around than the 4S ever did. We also eliminated the boat cover since everything is waterproof, and it's full of foam. Fast? You bet!

To the trained ear, you can hear the flex cable chuck slipping in this video. We need to replace it with a better one. Any suggestions?

It nice when old stuff gets reborn, lots of that stuff just ends up in the trash.

Default The latest and fastest revision of the vintage hull

We started this project in the spring and have had many flips, smoke, broken drive parts...etc. We finally have a really fast boat that handles very well for a vintage gas hull.

Now it's running a Leopard motor with a 180A ESC from HK. This video was shot with 6S. I could not really open it up for very long. The water needs to be glass for full throttle....or I could trim it down a hair.
