waterproof boat tape?

so is the Grim racer tape for $21.99 really worth it? is it that much better than the aquacraft or pro boat tape at less than 1/4th the cost?

What are you using?

That's a lot for radio box tape! Most are using and/or selling 3M tape which isn't cheap but that's about double of what others sell it for. I may be one of the few that aren't all that impressed with the 3M. Recently I've been using hockey stick tape which is working quite well. I've also used in the past window sealing tape for homes and it comes in a wide roll with a crease in it where you can slit it down the middle to double the amount.

I use the Renfrew hockey tapes. Works like a charm.

+1 on the Renfrew hockey tape

You can get it on eBay searching "hockey tape". I couldn't find it at local sporting goods stores.

What's the advantage over an electrical tape? I am a newb so sorry if it's a silly question.

I use electrical tape, works just as good as hockey tape. Never had an issue.

Thats what I use. I like electrical tape alot and home depot has it in alot of different colors.

if you use tape that wont leave a residue it works really well, doesn't slide or get air bubbles in it. Easy to place too comes off clean and can adjust it before you toss the boat in the water.

I've tried electrical tape and it's never worked for me.
I'm in a Hockey town believe it or not as there's a stadium just a few miles away so it's fairly easy for me to get. We have a farm team for the Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penquins. There's a Pro shop inside and one of the former players owns a hockey shop. A good sporting goods store in your area may carry it if you have amateur teams or a rink there.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but does electrical tape come clear? That's why I use hockey tape. I don't want to see the tape when the boat is running.

Also, I've never had a problem with the hockey tape pulling up any paint.

In a weak moment I bought some AquaCraft GrimRacer Pro Radio Box Tape. I believe it is clear electrical tape made by 3M. It works great but ain't cheap. I use it on some of my boats that I don't want to risk damaging the paint. I use clear hockey tape for everything else.

Cinnabun 07-14-2013 12:48 PM

I just use scotch tape

madmikepags 07-30-2013 05:12 PM

akesj1 07-30-2013 08:17 PM

Renfrew hockey tapes works very well, just have to dry boat after battery swap
