Default Turborix EL CA130 ESC w/bec

I posted this in the wrong section (Chat room)/

I rebuilt my grandson's boat that he sank. Had to remove all electronics and replace them. Everything works except the ESC.
It has 3 - 550 brushed electric motors, the above esc, Traxxas 2238 2.4 transmitter, & 2218 traxxs receiver. I have switched wiring around and know that the transmitter, and receiver are working. I have measured sodered joints with no resistance to indicate a bad sorder job. All motors run when hooked directly to the battery. I purchased another esc just like it and it doesn't work. Battery power is 12V Nicad, starting amperage on one motor is 4.7 amps and runs wide open with .79 amps. Esc is 110 amps forward, 40 amps reverse, it has bec 5 volts at 3amps. 12 volt battery is fully charged and bec is working. Motors started one time on 1st esc, and never again. I am at a loss. No directions came with the ESC.

Has anybody had this problem?
