I purchased my 1st rc boat/kit today. The lil swamp buggy!
Lots to learn and lots to do and buy.
I have an offer in on a big one as well so maybe doing 2.

Well I was kinda ticked yesterday thinking someone else got the bigger air boat from under me. LOL Well its shipped. My offer was accepted. I will be making 2 airboats! I will focus on the smaller 18" model here for the build but will probably be sharing pics of my larger boat build near its end here as well.

I had one like the little one a long time ago. I put brass tubing on the bottom like sled runners to stop wear on the bottom of the boat and ran it on frozen lakes. It was way faster on ice than in water. If I held it wide open too long it would blow over backwards. It had an os 20 on it. was tons of fun but I got tired of replacing the prop when it blew over.

Plan rn is to use titebond 2 and a 2 part marine epoxy watered down 50/50. I may or may not use a marine varnish or stain/sealer.
Paint and decals to be figured out later.
I really wanted to do an old school gas airplane motor. nitro whatever.

Brushless will just be easier I'm afraid and the videos i see of the electric ones still sound good and kool.
kits are due to arrive tomorrow and Thursday!

been looking at .040 or .40 to .060 or .60 old motors on ebay.

Far enough back to say I actually had one of those motors that's pictured on the back of that boat.

Well, buy yourself a big bag of props and a rowboat and have at it. You're probably going to need both. Especially if you get it on ice.

Sealed kit

Both swamp boats showed up Tuesday! Need to clean off some kitchen counter space to do the smaller boat that I'm gonna focus on here. Prob gonna use the kitchen table for the big one.

Put some foam in there so it doesn't sink if it gets water inside. My first boat sank because I didn't. Sucks when your boat sinks out of sight.

ty bud! Thats is a good tip. I plan to use expansion foam. Marine float foam ect in the front and rear of the hull prior to me sealing it.

This is my second boat. It had an os 10 marine motor in it. Ran pretty good, just had to adjust the trim tabs every time I took it out because of the differences in the water that day. It was an 18"er. Cool little boat. I found I had to silver solder the exhaust pipe as plain solder melted and the pipe came apart. I had the plans enlarged and built a 30" version with an os 40 marine motor. Unfortunately I only got to run it a couple times before it got stolen. Don't have any pics of it, though. Foam in this one.
