idk about rock hard ice but snow yes.
Hoping the epoxy I clear coat the boat with will harden the 2 balsa wood pieces that make up the two outside running boards.

the 5min epoxy I have I don't like for the clear coating of the whole boat. I do like it for glueing together.

Definitely epoxy the motor mount and where it mounts to the boat.

Its only wood glued on but will get the epoxy coating... too late.

Edit. Thought you were talking about the rudder mount bud. I will epoxy the motor mount together yes and to the deck when I measure from the prop to rudder.

Probably not too important if you're going electric, but if it's a nitro motor the epoxy handles the vibration better.

I may have done this boat in. I put the bellow too close to the top and split the whole back transom.
I glued and clamped it. After the epoxy we will see.
:/
Gonna remove the metal piece and do two coats on the inside. The outside will get 3 after the top deck is placed and flush.

You could put another transom on the inside of that one for your strength and move the aluminum thing down a bit. Then all you have to do is fill the gap at the top since you're painting it anyway. If that's the worst you ever screw up you'll be pretty lucky. You might even be able to file the aluminum flange down even with the top of the transom and not have to move it down. Solving problems is a big part of building.

Ya I tried to sand down the flange flush with the.top deck. Gonna remove it and file it. Epoxy it in place when im done epoxy lining the inside of the boat. Gonna do that in a spare bathroom with the fan on, gloves, and mask.
guess it's pretty nasty of a smell and it's cold and damp here rn.

I usually use hand tools when I'm working. Lol.

You owe it to yourself to run that thing on ice at least once. The difference between running on ice or water is tremendous. It'll perk that little boat right up.

Yaaaa I've already debated making some skis out of aluminum. Got the rudder and boat inside and out epoxyed. Idk if I like how it turned out. Gonna have to wait till it hardens so I can fine sand it some.
