Default PROBOAT ZELOS 48 GAS BOAT

I just shelled out $1000.00 for this boat and it has a clutch problem and if you call tech support they claim nobody is having clutch issues with this boat . Now I have had around 5 Proboat gas boats and none of them ever had clutch issues and furthermore why would Proboat make a CLUTCH boat without a water pump .I think the fix is the clutch spring is to heavy but if I change it I will void the warranty . I think Proboat should step up and get these people that own theses boats some service . If you go to Youtube and type in RC boat problem you will see what I am talking about but tech support knows nothing about this Bullshit!!

call PB and tell them you need new springs . hey sounds like you have no warranty anyway. well 1 that will be acted on.. or take a turbo torch and heat the cent coil of springs to allow it to engage faster unless it engaged b4 ud like.

You have a picture of clutch? I would just get rid of the clutch in a boat that size anyways.

Maybe not that model but plenty of clutch problems with other ones in the past. There was a screw that was coming loose inside.
Carb settings; try 2 turns out on the low-speed and 1 out on the high-speed needles.

Well Guys after talking to the tech guy at Horzon Hobbies my boat is about 85% better. A friend that went to the lake with me said I should run it a couple of times more and I think my clutch issue might be gone. Hats off to the Horizon Hobbies Boat Techs.

Have you greased the cable? I grease my cable on my Race boats before each race day, some guys use an oiler for all day running. The flex shaft breaks from no lubrication or a bad angle at the strut or motor coupler in my experiences..

i just purchased 1 for $700 with 10 minuets on it from a guy that apparently was disappointed it has the same issues as you discribe. Plus the drive shaft is a failure at best. The spring direction under load will shrink, then causing it to slip from the crimped joint. On top of the rotation trying to pull it out at the same time. I ordered a new shaft But my plan is to drill 2 set screws in the coupler extension from the clutch to hold the shaft in place. The main issue where the spring goes into the prop shaft sleeve ive decided to tac weld. I tried solder/ braze, and nothing will bond. I was able to fill the shaft hole with solder and twist the shaft into the sleeve while still in liquid form. It worked for 5 minuets But I think if I had already put set screws in the coupler/clutch sleeve it may have lasted longer. But the truth is. The only fix is a STD rotation motor or change of direction with the flex shaft. I build full size boats like this and I’ve spent less time rebuilding a surface drive than the amount of time I will probably Dish out to probably long term correct this flaw.
