Default Tape?

I've been seeing people put tape on the seals of the boat. Was just wondering if there's a certain kind of tape people use/recommend?

Yup, Renfrew Hockey stick tape. You can get it cheap on eBay in a variety of colors. 3M tape is really expensive and isn't as forgiving especially if you're going over compound surfaces. It can leave a residue behind if left on for a long time but easily cleaned off with a little alcohol.

If you go on amazon you can find a "knock off" hockey tape and tbh Ive used both renfrew and this now and they are both equal in performance and you get 12 rolls of this for the same price as 10 of renfrew. here's the link:

I use a 3M tape sold by Aeromarine as Radio Box Tape #6026. It will take me some time to find the 3M part number so you can order it elsewhere.

3M #5 polyester film electrical tape is what it's called. 05 is the part number. Looks to be people on Amazon selling it now. You would want the 3/4" width.

This tape overlaps much better than hockey tape making a better seal. Hockey tape and standard vinyl electrical tape will never seal as well.

I used Renfrew Hockey tape on my FE boat it works fantastic. I didnt care for the knock off brands as they didnt stretch and stick as good as Renfrew. I would use 3M tape on a nitro or gas boat application as the hockey tape will not stick very well and leak..

Renfrew is good but Tape Owl is better, It's thinner and more flexible so it goes around bends better, but it also doesn't leave any tape residue even if you keep it on for weeks.
