Default Tekin RS pro black edition thread

Hi guys,

Well i thought I’d get a thread going for Tekin’s latest ESC.

Tekin RS pro black edition esc

The RS PRO is back! This RS PRO Black Edition utilizes both hardware and software advances recently developed for our latest ESC lineup. With its industry-leading Ultra Low Resistance you can be sure that your motor is getting all the power you can give it. More power, smooth control and reliability you can count on: the RS PRO Black Edition is engineered for performance. Capabilities such as Data Logging and HotWire 3.0 Bluetooth Connectivity allow you fine tune your system and gain an advantage over the competition.

The RS PRO Black Edition was specifically designed for 1S-2S Spec Classes and Drag Racing to take full advantage of the ULR circuit design. ULR FlexWire is included with every Black Edition ESC. Pair the RS PROs with a SPEC-R motor for the ultimate Ultra Low Resistance system.

For 1:10 scale 2WD/4WD Buggy and Stadium Truck and Modified Touring Car we recommend the RSX Modified ESC as these setups tend to run at higher temperatures. The billet housing and fan shroud on the RSX provide sufficient cooling.

Well the lowest resistance advertised on another ESC is Orion vortex r10 0.0003ohm compared to this new Tekin which is 0.000096ohm

Meaning it’s only 32% the resistance of the Orion which advertises as a ultra low resistance. Interestingly I can’t find other brands putting this Spec up.

I’d be interested to know other brands if anyone has that information & including the RS gen2.

Looks, very promising but I’m no electrics or physics expert. Can someone perhaps explain the maths behind why this is good.

If I=V/R then theoretically I(current) would be 3 times greater then the Orion. For example. Does this mean it can provide 3 times the amperage when needed. Hope so, I’ve got 2 arriving shortly & we use control fixed timing motors.

With that in mind will I have to adjust gearing perhaps, mmm, can’t wait to test it. I’m quite technical but know there are some really smart people out here in rctech land. I’ll feedback my results either way. I’ll assume gearing is the same to start and start changing & measuring as I go.

Happy days

We all know low resistance batteries provide more punch, we all know low resistance stock motors are faster than high resistance motors. The same theory is true with the ESC's.

Back in the brushed days you'd often see the larger LRP 7.1 in stock cars vs. the Quantum due to the punch and additional power they offered.

Yes it's noticeable.

Measurable? I should have done back to back test but I didn't, Upgraded from RsGen2 And it is in a sprint car, Ran 17.5 2 weeks ago and Boosted for modified last week, WIN each time out

Nice work. Have any wins before that or did it push you over the hump? I'm sure most of us would like to know how it compares to the rs gen 2.

Would have to do back to back test, I'm one of the fast guys @ the track and its dirt, so each week it can be different.

I get mine soon. It’ll give me a chance to see what difference. I too am off-road on clay so not a great test. Parameters very variable.

Perfect test would be an on-road with a control motor. I’d think. Unluckily I reverse polaritied one of my Gen2 so luckily justified buying 2 new black editions.

Definitely, if guys can post findings please. Numbers don’t lie.

If you can do a back to back that would be great to see.

Ohhh, I broke it, guess I have to get two new ones.

I run VTA onroad nearly every Friday night and have gotten pretty consistent. My most recent outing I took the TQ with my last lap being .002 off my fast lap.
I'm happy to do a back to back test between the RS Gen2 and RS Pro Black if someone wants to send me one....

Our oval team can run nearly identical lap times for an entire 4 minute run and have access to an open track with no traffic. It's measurable and repeatable....

Interesting! What was the measure? Say ave best 5 prior vs ave best 5 after. (Ave best 5 eliminates the laps with traffic, etc)

I have some original pro esc's. Could I update them with software or have they changed so much it would be better to get the new ones.

These ESC’S are totally new hardware the software is written for this in mind. You can use Hotwire to update firmware but you won’t get the same benefits. If you are needing that little extra definitely, however if you can’t run clean for 5 minutes you will wipe out any advantage you gain straight away. However, I always like to know I’m getting the most out of my cars.
