Stick remote, reverse/throttle/brake functions
Okay my hands aren't very good, zero grip strength but am still young-ish lol .. so not due to old age haha .... but seriously this means for me anyways as much as I would prefer I cant use a 'gun' style remote ...... I'm limited to sing stick controller. ... because I'm into rc drifting and with this being rwd drifting.. there isn't a lot of steering required because of the use of a gyro to hep stability wise, not to mention steering is done with your throttle anyways ..... that said braking is important. This is the layout -throttle/reverse/steering etc etc --- I'm wanting
The right stick. Forwards is forward throttle. Downwards is reverse. Left/Rght is steering, side to side The left stick. Forwards is BRAKE I can't post my picture/diagram .... sorry.. Anyways I know that the throttle/reverse up/down with steering left/right can be on the right stick .. no issue.. but I'm not sure if I can run just the brakes to the left stick, so when I push forward with the left stick... the car brakes? I'm using a Fly Sky FS-T6 remote |
2 stick radios have been used for cars before, so it's not something unusual. Most were 2 channel - steering on one stick, throttle / brake on the other.
I think the main problem will be reverse - most ESCs require full brake before they go into reverse. Check your esc manual for specifics, but I think the process is brake, full motor stop, brake again for reverse. Not sure if the radio is capable, but see if it allows mixing in order to split the throttle / brake function on 2 sticks - it may work, but you will have to be creative. |
you just need to reverse the programming on the Tx for the throttle channel, I would also consider moving the throttle to the right stick to make it easier for centering the throttle... many ESC's require the throttle to be zeroed or it won't enable for safety reasons when the ESC is first turned on.

With brushed ESC's you can find a forward/backward function w/o brake. The sepperate brake you should make it mechanical with a servo.

cheers guys.
