Pinched sensor wire going to failsafe?
I've searched and searched and this is all I can come up with. I've ran the tires off my B6d with a 10.5 motor and never had an issue. Electronics are HW v3.1 120a esc, savox 1258, hitec axion 4 rx and hitec lynx 4s transmitter. There has NEVER been an issue with it or my B5m or mugen 1/8 scale. Today I swapped in a 7.5 for a much larger track, first three packs were perfect, motor was extremely cool so I went up another tooth on the pinion. Immediately afterwards I started having issues. Sometimes in 2 laps, sometimes in 16 but I didn't complete a single pack without the car going into failsafe. I checked everything I could think of at the track including rf scan and remind rx with no help. Ran my B5m and mbx and they were flawless.
When I got home I started pulling it apart to try to find the problem and apparently when I loosened the motor to change the pinion the sensor wire got pinched under it and then I tightened it back down on top of it. The outer shielding for the entire wire bundle was cut but none of the shielding on the actual wires that I could find. Is this a possibility? I've never had an issue like this and just curious. I went ahead and threw an 8.5 in the b5m for tomorrow just in case the b6 is still screwed up but I don't have the ability to run it here aside from in the garage because it pouring rain. Just wondering if I'm on to something here. |

The more I read, I'm starting to think I'm finally seeing the "brown out" savox is notorious for. Never experienced it before but it would make sense that I never saw it with the 10.5, or with the 7.5 at first but it popped up with a pinion change. I may have just blipped it over the edge of current draw for the internal BEC. Every time it happened I was either in the brakes for a turn or I the throttle exiting a turn. Sometimes it would come back in a few seconds like it had to clear its head, other times it would just freeze and choke on itself.
I'll try a capacitor if it does it again tomorrow, or drop that tooth back down hahaha. |
