SkyRC D100 issue

Hi to those owners of SKYRC D100 charger,

Does your charger able to automatically stop the charging once the cell of each lipo reach 4.2v? I have tried 3 lipo on both channels. I have to manually stop the charging. Kindly share your similar experience.

Thanks in advance

LiPo chargers don't peak the same way NiMh/NiCd chargers do. They charge using a constant current / constant voltage (CC/CV) method. At first, they will charge at a constant current (the value you set) until the battery reaches the target voltage of 4.2V/cell. Then it will switch into constant voltage mode where it will slowly start backing down the current to maintain a constant voltage of 4.2V/cell until the charging current drops low enough that it determines the battery is completely charged.

The battery should never really go above the target voltage of 4.2V/cell using this method, so if that's what you're seeing and the charger isn't lowering the charging current once the battery hits 4.2V/cell, then you probably don't have the charger in LiPo charge mode. If you have the charger in NiMh/NiCd mode (delta-peak), then it will not charge LiPo batteries properly and could cause a fire.

I was using lipo balance charge mode and the readings of 4.2v/cell could be seen for the next 5mins or more before I manually stopped the charging. Thus, I was wondering does this charger has the function to stop charging automatically when battery is fully charged in "lipo balance charge" and "lipo charge" modes.

The full detection is arround 1/10th of the charging current. When the voltage is reached it will stay on 4.2v per cell and the balancer will do his job to steer the charging current through the right cells to get them equal. Meanwhile the charging goes on but the current will drop.

Charging balanced will be automaticly stopped when all cells are at 4.2v and the charging current is dropped to 1/10th of the programmed charging current.

Your charger is operating as it should. This is perfectly normal for the CC/CV method that is used for charging LiPo packs.

I see, I shall try again. Thanks guys for the great information and feedbacks. Ultimately, this charger has a sturdy built with quality materials.
