I don't need the torque of 160T, so 160SS would be my choice. However, I can't find much info about people running the servo, and how happy they are with it. There are two reviews on Amain, where one of them complains about exactly what happened with my Spektrum S6270. Otherwise the parameters of 160SS are exactly what I'm looking for...

So anyone has any experience with 160SS - good or bad? ;-)

Thanks!

I think it's a question of weight distribution. There are many full-metal low-profile servos tailored to off-road applications on the market today that weigh approximately the same as full-size servos with plastic cases and aluminium center piece used to weigh. Whereas I'd always use a full-size servo in a 2WD buggy or truck on Astro and carpet, I'd check the left-to-right balance of components before deciding for a full-size or LPF servo. As a matter of fact, I was going to check the pictures of the B74 SLA prototype for just that purpose as I stumbled across this thread... I'd either go for a HighestRC or maybe a Ruddog LPF servo, or maybe an SRT.
(Edit: I am going for a full-size servo due to weight distribution)

Yes 160T is a beast, I have now run it in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, Truggy, and also in 1:10 4wd buggy

I would go with the Futaba BLS571SV and run it in sr mode. But if you don’t have a Futaba 7px. I would go for the protek 160ss.
