trouble shooting a LRP automatic super digital reverse
Hello everyone,
I am a new member and a novice RC guy. I have an older ~9 years old RC10 T4 truck that I have not used in the last ~7 years or so(busy with other stuff). I went to fire it up today and I observe the following : When I try to use the truck the motor will not turn. I placed a charged battery in the truck and turned it on. The front servo will turn the front wheels side to side using the radio control but the throttle does not respond. If I jumper the battery to the motor the motor turns and the back wheels turn quickly. The batteries are giving 7.2 volts according to my volt meter. If I put the volt meter on the blue and yellow bullet connectors (output of the speed controller) on the speed controller I get 0 volts with the throttle on full. How can I figure out what is going on with the speed controller? Thanks thomastman |
Or how can I tell if the batteries are shot?

Have you tried recalibratibg the throttle range on the esc? |
I'm assuming these are round cells? Re-calibrate the ESC to the radio. May have lost it's memory after sitting that long. Make sure radio batteries are good too.

OK,
I think the batteries are shot...they are after all >10 year old NiCad 7.2 volt 6 cell stick batteries....but they did hold charge for a short time. So I wonder if the esc just didn't get enough power to work properly. How do you recalibrate the esc? The LRP esc is supposed to be 'automatic... |

Update:
The esc was faulty. No idea why. I went to a local shop and they tested a Helion esc for me and it worked. So I'm swaping them out. |
