Transponders..

Can anyone tell me the difference between an amb, mylaps, 2 wire, 3 wire, hybrid, etc?

I want to get one that works at most places, knowing of course that every place could use a different style and that it may not work everywhere.

Just trying to figure it out. Thanks!

The older (most common) scoring systems use the AMB, my laps 2 wire which is called the hybrid. Newer scoring systems will use the all 3 transponders. The 3 wire will not work on the older systems. So if you get an AMB or a 2wire (hybrid), they'll work with all systems. The chart below will help you understand.
