Lipo problem

I just received a brand new gensace 5000mah 40c lipo it stops charging at 4.20 4.00

There sending me a replacement but is there a way to balance out the cells or should I just trash it?

EbbTide 01-09-2017 11:34 AM

Just to balance the cells you can use one of these

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCVEU&P=FR&gclid=CO61mvzmtdECFY17fgod cSwCcg

It'll take a while but if the cells are recoverable it should eventually Balance out. If not, toss the battery

Lipo is wacked it stoped discharging at 4.75 4.20  no bueno I will just throw it on craigslist for free.
I'm sure there's some battery Guru that can find a use for it.

Can you charge other batteries on that charger with no issue? That's definitely scary high

Well it's definitely still not good for the cells to be that far off. I hope the new lipo solves the problem though :)

What charger are you using? Does it support balance charging, and are you using it in balance mode?

Hitec x1 pro and yes I always balance charge my lipos..the cell were uneven straight out of the box.

And on a side note gensace has excellent costumer service I just emailed them a pic of the lipo on charger and I have a new lipo on the way:nod:

Even if the cells start unbalanced, a good balancing charger should be able to rebalance them (as long as the cells aren't damaged). You could try a few charge/discharge cycles to see if they get any better, but in case the cells are damaged I'd keep a close eye on it at all times while charging.

Thanks for the advice I will give it another try.. and I always charge my lipos outside on my carport and still monitor it while charging.

If its bad and you cant recover it through balancing / discharging....just dispose of it. Don't give it away.

Hello, Hate to barge in here, but seems like a good spot to ask my question about a Lipo issue as well.
I have 3 2s lipos I use with my SC truck, one is stock at 30c 3500maH and the other two are 30c 5200 maH. I have been charging the batteries using a B680AC charger set properly for each battery and seemed to develop a problem. the stock battery and one of the 5200 batteries work and charge just fine (balance charge set to each battery needs) but the other 5200 battery doesnt seem to charge properly or even turn my truck on, I get a quick flash on the esc and thats it. Any ideas?

I think it might just be a bad battery. I would at least plug a lipo cell checker to see what each cell is sitting at. If it's below 3v per cell that's bad. If both cells are way out of balance, that's bad too.

i bought a new gens ace 6750 4s and i did a few cycle charges before i use it to break it in. Every time i balance charge the battery, cell 1 reaches 4.2 v faster than the others which sit at 4.11. It takes ages for the other cells to reach 4.2 v since the charger drops the current to 0.1a to balance cells out. I have checked internal resistance of the cells and its equal on all 4 cells. I'm using a skyrc d100 charger. Do i have a bad battery?
