AC/DC Charger Recommendations

Can anyone advise which charger which has 2 charging ports that are good? Hopefully something not too bulky.
I Already have a Hitec X2 Duo Pro at home.
Want something that is not too big to bring to track and overseas.
Thanks.

The venom pro duo is pretty compact. Can get it for 80-90 bucks. Not winning any charging races at 7amp max per side but it does well.

Check out EV-Peak chargers. I have the 4 channel and charges at 10A per channel. They also have a 2 channel one that does 10A per channel as well.

The Newer Reedy Dual charger is popular at our track. Can't go wrong with Reedy gear. 12amps x2!

Can u confirm it's 12A per channel? Its specifications don't say that. Just list as 120A.

It confirms it in its title on Amain.com it says it is 6s/12a/120w x2. Meaning it can charge up to a 6s lipo at 12 amps on each channel.

Want some real power, Turnigy Reaktor 2 x 300 watt and a converted power supply, HP 1025 watts and 85 amps. The turnigy $130, power supply $55, beat that. 20 amps per station, enough to handle 4s all day long.

That's a lot of extra work to do when the safe charge rate on most batteries is 1c and I don't see any 20,000 mAh Lipos out there lol. Besides I like the simplicity of an all-in-one unit. Makes it easier to haul around

A 6s is 25.2 volts at full charge. 120 watts divided by 25.2 volts equals 4.76 amps, so no this charger will NOT charge a 6s lipo at 12 amps on either channel.
This charger can only provide the advertised 12 amps on 1s and 2s batteries.

I haven't seen a newer lipo that doesn't advertise at least a 2c charge rate capability and many state up to 5c. It's not uncommon to see people running ichargers in synchronous charge mode charging at 50 to 70 amps.

I guess it's a personal preference for me. I'd rather wait a while longer and have a few extra packs rather than push their limits. And you're right about the 6s limit. I've been out of the hobby for a while and I forgot about the higher cell counts requiring more wattage. I'll still take the dual charger over a dedicated psu and charger combo though :)

By the way anyone interested in the Reedy 1216, it is just a re-skinned Ultra Power UP120AC, which sells for around $100 and has a longer warranty than the Reedy.

The Venom Pro Duo and Pro Quad are nice if you don't mind having to share a single screen for the multiple charge ports. The fact that it sits vertically vs horizontally like most other chargers means that they takes up quite a bit less space on your pit table than most comparable chargers. I have the Pro Quad and don't mind the 7A charge rate. It has 100W per channel, so I can actually use all 7A when charging 4S packs and I never charge over 1C for the peace of mind. Just my 2 cents.

MontanaMaxx 01-13-2017 11:30 PM

The discharge rate is more of a problem than the charge rate discharge to high of rate is like shorting it out but when charging it will only take so much and the chargers detect that and ramp back
