Flysky radio
 

I'm planning to take my 6yr old son racing for the first time and since I only have one radio I need to get another one, I'm thinking about getting this flysky for now until I see he can handle it responsibly. I don't want to spend a lot right now until he proves it won't get broken and that he has a real interest in the hobby. Any opinions on this model?

my friend has one and he likes it, hasn't had any issues... good response and range from what ive seen. for the price you can't go wrong.

Believe it or not, this thing is better than the low end FUTABA I purchased. With some modification, this transmitter actually competes with high end transmitters.

I used that radio for a couple of years. Wasn't bad, but I had reprogrammed it (search for modify firmware gt3b). The only problem I had was the trigger in the reverse position. Because of the design, you can break the trigger off if you push it too hard into reverse. I put a bit of fuel tube over the forward part of the trigger to prevent it from happening again.

If he's only going to run one vehicle, might want to consider the gt2 series. I think they are on the gt2e version now.

Dont get the GT3b! it use 8 batteries and it have a bad voltage regulator that makes it heat up and drain the batteries.
if you go on flysky you batter get the GT3C, its much batter remote with li-ion battery and light weight.
and if you want a much batter radio get this one, Radiolink RC4G. its 4ch, batter range then the flysky and cheaper. and it have a build in gyro.

i used them both and the radiolink is awesome.

Spend a little extra and get a sanwa or futaba radio. If not get a second hand radio. I have a gt3c and its junk!

Yup, the GT3C is not a good radio for racing, the steering and throttle are not linear. Sanwa MX-V or Futaba 3PV are pretty good.

You can't win over everyone. I personally use only Futaba if in racing situation, but when I need low budget radios...FlySky fits the bill. I started out taking a chance with a FS-GT3C. Using that transmitter for a year with no issues, compelled me to get two more FS-GT3C radios for when nieces and nephews come over to the house. This way we can can all run my basher RCs on the track together. Sure the knobs, buttons,and jog wheel feel cheap. Extra receivers are only $7 for when your RC collection starts to grow. No way, no how, would I ever trust FlySky in a racing scene, unless it's backyard brawling.
