Tekin hotwire help

I'm getting back into racing after 3 or 4 yrs off and I see that tekin now has an app for Android, I've found but not ordered a cable that will allow me to hook my phone to the hotwire but wanted to make sure it would work before I wasted time and money on a cable. The phone is a droid turbo 2 and I'm using the older hotwire and running an rs pro. Thanks.

I don't see any problems. Amazon you can find a adapter to USB to Smartphone(Android) for $5. I even use on my RSPro. Android or Tablet using Windows 10. Just upgrade to version Tekins provides.

I was led to believe that the Hotwire 2 was needed to operate with android phones. That's why it was developed.

What app are you using? All I have I found on google play is the Beta (test) version.

With the original hotwire, you will need a USB OTG cable. With the Hotwire 2.0, that is built in to the hotwire box.

I understand that but tekin said it may not work on some phones but doesn't list which ones those are, I was just wanting to confirm it would work with the turbo 2 before ordering a cable.

Interesting. Once I plugged in it wouldn't let me program anything. I'll look again.

It does have an extra ground circuit that some of the older phones didn't have internally. This allowed more cables to function.

Ok I just got the Tekin Hotwire bluetooth for my iPhone which is awesome. I have several older RS and RS Pro escs that the new bluetooth will not operate. I need to get a tablet or some cheap PC to make it work. I don't really want to spend all that much money on a PC just to use as a controller at the track. Can anyone suggest a cheap tablet or such that will work?

1st Generation RS and RS Pro's will not work via BLE. You can use a cheap tablet that supports "OTG" and a cable that is offers. I've seen $40 tablets on Monoprice or NewEgg that work.
