Reedy servo warning..

Just wanted to warn fellow enthusiast..

I bought several servos as i revamp several cars of mine.

2 of the servos I bought recently are reedy rs0806 and rs1206.

I've had nothing but trouble with these. 25t horns do not fit correctly. I've stripped teeth on a few trying to make them fit. This on the advice of associated saying they were going to be tight, and to just work them on. Associated then encouraged me to use their horns only...only to find same issues. Their horn fit after a ton of modding.

Seen many tight and loose servos in the last 30 years, nothing like this. I guess hitec, sanwa and ko will be the only servos I buy. I had all these brands and I've never seen an issue like this.

i will agree .. i only use Hitec.. no one else s..

I have 3...soon to be 4 Reedy servos and they work perfectly fine. I guess I'm the exception...

I have six reedy servos. 1206 1508 and 1408. Never had an issue.

Did you try the double split horns, they seem to be made for the servos like yours. Stupid cheap at Value Hobbies.

mustangkillaz 10-06-2016 06:16 PM

Learned my lesson, guys. Tried a handful of horns. Was only able to force a plastic one on the throttle. All alum steering arms have been an issue.

I will mod the servo gear since i'm stuck with it.

The rtr stuff from the past has worked in the associated line. I now know why one of the hobby shops said to avoid them.

I'm sure they work great, just got to get the arms on there first.

Let me share my experience. Just installed a 1408 LP Reedy in my BD7 tonight. The Yokomo BD7 Futaba alloy servo horn (YOKB7-204F) slipped on like butter. Install went without a hitch. Feels plenty fast & torquey running on 7.4V (HW XR10 Pro). Impressed so far - on track test is this Sunday.

Yea, it seems my part numbers are the issue. These are new releases and just built wrong it seems. I know the shorty was released a few months ago.

So are we still under Reedy Servo warning ..or is it safe to come out?

I can only speak for myself. As above - zero install issues. Used it on the weekend (1408 LP in my BD7) - very happy with the performance in general.

1208 in my t5m works perfect! looks like people just want to bitch about something sell the reedy servo and get a loud chatteree savox

Stock kit B6 horn was def a tight fit on the 1206, but managed to get it on with a little elbow grease. Have since upgraded to Exotek aluminum split horn - slips on effortlessly and fits like a glove. The servo itself has been quiet, fast and utterly reliable.

There's no bitching here. Just a bad experience and a warning to fellow rc folk. Don't spin this into something it's not.
