Wiring directionality
 

I'm putting together my first RC build.

I have a Reedy 1206 servo, a Novak Pulse V2 ESC, and a Futaba 603FF receiver I need to plug together.

Now my transmitter documentation tells me I need to plug the servo into Channel 1 and the ESC into Channel 2.

My question is is there any polarity on any of this? The 603FF has little notches in it that look like they're there to keep me from plugging things in backwards, but I don't see any information in the docs about if the notch should be positive or negative or what.

The 1206 servo connect is symmetric (unless I missed something) and the documentation doesn't say anything about directionality. The 3 wires coming out of the ESC are colorful, so I assume that has polarity.

What direction should I plug this stuff together? Is there any danger to getting it backwards?

Sorry if this is stickied somewhere! I looked around but didn't find my answers.

The black wire on all components goes toward the outside edge of the receiver case. (narrow edge)

On top of what Andy has said, the receiver usually has some sort of polarity symbols on the case near the connectors ("-+sig" or similar). "+" is always in the middle, so even if you plug in backwards, you are not going to "fry" anything (it just wont work). Same for servo, but usually only wire colour gives indication (black or brown for ground).
