Multimeter for battery
Went to buy a multimeter for my battery but none come with 4mm bullets.
Any suggestions? Thanks |
Are you trying to measure the voltage of the battery? If so, what about one of these, click here?
|
Most multimeters do come with 4mm plugs, like this one:
https://www.amazon.de/Voltcraft-VC13...rds=multimeter It has 4mm connections so you can make your own cables or use a charger cable. But if you want to measure the status of the battery you need to do that with a load like a resistor or a lightbulb. |
Trying to measure amperage...

Will you post results? I'm specifically interested in the Amp readings!
Are you going to try sensorless and sensored on the motors? |
Usually, when measuring amps with a multimeter you run the meter in circuit but the amp draw from pretty much any electric car system will be massively higher than any multimeter can cope with and you will destroy it.
What you need for high amps is a clamp meter which has a sprung 2 part ring that you clip around the supply wire and it calculates the amps from induction. You can get cheap ones that do AC but for DC you need a decent bit of kit, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Amprobe-ACDC-.../dp/B0011DC008 |

Great video on this on YouTube. Look up Nick Adams, Sweet Spot for Blinky. I just need a multimeter with the proper sized leads. The have to plug into the battery & analyzer

Ah, I see what is being done, 10A is enough. I was thinking mod under load ;-)

Any ideas on multimeter...

Multimeters are all 4mm bullets. You just need a pair of leads with 2 male ends.

This is what you want to use. I have this in line before my analyzer. Works perfect.
