Quick Soldering Question
Hi guys,
I have picked up a new soldering iron, and with it came some free solder. I would like to know if this solder is ok to use for rc applications, specifically soldering Traxxas female connectors to lipo batteries with 12 awg wire.(battery to be used in Traxxas Brushless Erevo) I have searched everywhere on the internet and am aware that 60/40 (tin/led) rosin core solder is what should be used, however i cannot find specific info on the solder i have. Here is the exact solder in question. https://s32.postimg.org/gn7rk3o91/image.jpg It mentions Rosin core in the name on websites(unable to link), though item itself sais "366 flux, 5 core". Other thing i am worried about is the alloy is "Savbit 6 Tin/Lead/Copper", so no mention of the 60/40, and i am not sure if copper should be in the solder used for mentioned applications. On the back of the item reads "this product contains lead". Any help from an experienced solderer very much appreciated, thank you! |
It's fine, Multicore is a good make and the amount of copper is tiny. It is probably close to 60/40, maybe 63/37 but it will work fine. Main thing is that it has lead in it.
