Motor timing limits

I have a 17.5 rev tech 24k and the timing on the can is set to 60. Our track changed to a new layout where there is literately 15 feet straight sections between hairpins...I bought a smaller pinion to run with my 72 spur, but was also thinking about turning down the timing on the can to increase torque. I know it's trial and error, but do you guys tune this way for track layout as well or just set timing on can for peak rpm? Just curious how much of a difference in torque I would experience if I set it to 30, or would the motor totally be dead...

I talked to Kevin from trinity this morning and he informed me that the 24k was a low amp motor and it would make it a lot slower if one was to decrease timing on that motor and it would be better to just stick with gearing.

Anybody messed around with timing of the latest Reedy 17.5T version motor?

I have a Mach 3 and the can comes with I believe 30* of timing and I use my tekin esc for any additional boost

ESC boost is not allowed in most 17.5T classes, which usually specify blinky - no boost rules.
