Do not Use Savox Servos with Spectrum
Yeah I tried it out and the Savox servo I got glitched like crazy with
my DX3s Transmitter. I used my Futaba 3PM FASST instead and the servo didn't glitch on it. Its weird because Savox servos are decent servos, I just thought id let you guys know. I'm sure Savox servos work fine with other transmitters just not Spektrum Transmitters for some reason because of the glitching. |
Old/known issue - you can use them together, you just usually need a glitch buster to do so.

Do not forget there are some issues with weak BEC's in Castle Creations ESC's.

I run the savox low pro servos in my tc and they are perfect. orion and hobbywing speedos and speed passion b4 that and never an issue;) thay are awesome in my book:D maybe a week bec ...and I do NOT use the caps on the receivers;) never had a need using a dx3s and now a dx4s

It's true that it's not the radio that matters when using a Savox(or other brand high-amp-draw servo), it's the speed control's BEC. The more robust it is(ie. higher current output at a good voltage), the less likely you'll need a glitch buster....

Its only with Spektrums low end sport receivers. Both my 1/8 truggies are using Spektrum with Savox servos. As well as my wheeler and my TC, my crawler even has 2 Savox servos with a Spektrum receiver.
My T5M has a Spektrum SR210 and it can not handle a Savox servo, it glitches like crazy. |
Yes the servos are amp hungry and yes the Spektrum rx's are a bit more prone to brown outs due to voltage fluctuations than others, but in almost every one of these I have seen (and it's been a few!) It's been able to be traced back to a Castle esc and a rubbish built in BEC (no surprise that they happen to sell the suggested external bec replacement!)

holy trinity of glitching
hi guys, I have run the brown out holy trinity consisting of the dx3s spectrum , savox 1251 low profile, and castle mmp together in a 1/10 tc, the bec is weak in this esc , but issue was fixed with a cheap external small bec and then later just a glitch buster (small capacitor ) , now I run a hobbywing xerun v 2.1 esc with same radio and servo with no bec or glitch buster without any issues
|
heard about it, read about it, bought the tshirt... but I still run savox servos with spektrum tx/rx in my 50cc gas plane, 1/10 buggy and e-buggy... along with spektrum rx/tx in every other rc that flys or drives that I own... never had a glitch <knocks on wood>
(not running castle esc's either) |
I had this issue and found out that running rechargeable NIMH batteries caused a lot of problems as the voltage was not high enough. Switched to NIZN batteries and problems gone. I also add the glitch buster to be on the safe side.

I ran my dx4r and Savox servo for 2 years with never one single brown out. Maybe I'm lucky but I have a glitch buster in my bag just in case because of what so many people said about this known issue and never one time! Yay for me I guess but Savox make some great servos at awesome prices compared to Sanwa (which I run now with my M12s) and other brands where you can spend $250 on a servo and get an identical one for $99
I say make or buy a 5$ glitch buster and in a lot of cases that's all a lot not all of people needed to fix the brown outs. |
