Radio Question.
 

For RC Cars is there any purpose to having more than 2 channels? Is there a benefit to having a 4 channel? Also between spending 50 and 150 bucks?

In know in nitro racing, you want 4 channels or 4 slots on the receiver. Steering, Throttle, Transponder and one to plug your battery. I know you can use "Y" cables but is more wire clutter. If you are running a simple electric car for just bashing, 2 channels will be fine. Check out FlySky or Spektrum radios. Economical and good quality.

Sometimes the third channel has been used for controlling winches in scale vehicles and shifting into forward/reverse for some nitro Traxxas trucks. All of my cars have three channel radios so that I can plug in my transponders and also because most "upgrade" radios nowadays are three channels anyways.

I would also recommend Radiolink for good, affordable radios. Their RC4G radio is very nice and extra receivers don't cost an arm and a leg. It's what I race with.

I use the spektrum 2 channel racing. I just use the transponder in the bind port. It would be nice to have another port for a glitch buster but ive never used one any how.

What do they run? Also best place to get?

They run around 50-60 dollars. Receivers go for $15-20. If you get the RC4G be sure to get the R4EH-G receivers. They've got a gyro that can turned on for stabilization, similar to Losi's AVS system. I'd get it from GearBest or eBay for the best price. But if you want it soon you should use RCJuice - the others will take a week or two.

Plus one on the Radiolink. The ts4g from hobbyking is the same radio as well.

Cheap recievers and a great budget setup.

Can I adjust the top speed of the car with the radio? Like the RC4G? So if I want to let my daughter drive it, I can tone it back a bunch?

Yes, it's very easy to adjust the end points for the throttle, which is what you would do to turn down the power.

How much better is this, than the Radiolink? Or not better?

DX4C DSMR 4-Channel AVC Transmitter with SRS4210

They're about the same. Both have what Spektrum calls AVC.

The original Emaxx had a two speed transmission, and your third channel you'd change gears.
