Help me pick some electronics

I'm new to the hobby. I got a slash 4x4 a couple of months ago and fell in love with the hobby. I just picked up a Tekno 410 roller. I have decided on the motor and speed control. The motor will be a Tekin pro 4 4600 and the ESC will be a Tekin Rx8 Gen 2. Now I need a little help on picking out the radio/receiver and the servo. I am really a begginer but plan on doing some racing at some point. I don't want to over or under spend. I have no idea what all the features are so I can't put a value on them. Please give me your recommendations.

Not knowing your budget I would suggest either a futaba 4pls or an airtronics mt-4/mt4s. Don't really know about spektrum too much so can't really comment. I personally run the 4pls and find it perfect for what I need. I think later if you feel you need to upgrade you can go to the airtronics m12/m12s or futaba 4px/4pxr both are these manufacturers flagship models but for a beginner might be a little overwhelming as far as settings go.

I agree with this completely. Would also recommend Savox 1258 as a decent level servo that I use in my Tekno 410.3. I have the same motor and ESC as you and use a Futaba 4PX but used to use a 4PL that my son now uses and they are great. The mt4 is also a good suggestion. Stick with those makes and you are golden!

Any of these are great options.

If you haven't bought the motor and speed control yet, I'd take a look at the Hobbywing SCT Pro if you haven't already. I race a Ten-SCTE with that system and it's great.

I also use the Airtronics MT4 and I can vouch for that system. I haven't spent a lot of time with the Spektrum radios, but the Airtronics feels better in my hand.

For servos, I really like the Spektrum S6240. It's a really popular servo in my area.

Hitec 7955TG is a great servo for the money. Its lead is long enough to reach the radio box without having to buy an extension and can be ran even at high voltage.

I now run the futaba S9372sv servo in my Durango DESC10 and its nuts. love the speed and torque.

For radio, I use a Futaba 4PLS and like the feel, and its receivers are pretty cheap. Especially the antenna-less ones.

As for motor, are you limited to ROAR rules? If not, you may have better enjoyment with the Tekno 4300HD motor or the hobbywing 3656SD Motor, 4000Kv variety. Maclan also has a new motor out that I am looking forward to hearing more on.

What's is the difference between the pro 4 4600 and the motors you recommended? I was only choosing that motor based in the recomemdation of the person I bought it from. I'm looking for something to run at my local clay track. I don't really understand the difference in the numbers and letters.

Servo is an easy choics, Savox 1258, I really like the black edition for a few more $.
Radio is up to your budget.
Spektrum DX3R Pro or DX4R Pro: radios are fairly cheap and receivers are super cheap.
Airtronics MT4S: radio is a lil more expensive and receivers are way more expensive.
Any of the Futabas: radio is way more expensive and receivers are a bit more expensive.
Spektrum being the comparison point to the rest.

pro4 is 540 size 53mm length.
pro4 hd(63mm) 550 size and hobbywing 3656(56mm) 545 size motor. longer motor means higher power. However, for roar races more than 540 size 4pole motor is not accepted.

Confirm wht your track what is legal. If they allow 550 4 pole motors, then I would get one personally. I currently use the hobbywing as in comparison to other motors I have tried, I liked the power delivery and how cool it runs, and its relatively cheap for what you get for the money. Also, as I run a durango DESC10, its longer motor shaft is a big plus so you don't need the long shank pinions. For your Tekno though it won't matter.

Thats not to say the Tekin 550 4300HD motor I had was bad or anything, Its like having a cake and another cake that has frosting. both are still excellent cakes :)

im in a similar situation & new to E systems , also setting up a tekno 410 for track uasage. The hd 4300 was also recommended by tekin. However after doing some research , im now leaning toward a 3s set-up / 2650. reason being , theres so much discontent & negativity toward sct on 2s that i'm anticipating roar changing there rules in the future. My plan is to purchase 1x .
