Hello
Looking to buy new batteries 7.4v 2s Big difference in price between 80c 5000mah and 80c 7200mah. I understand the longevity of the run will be much longer with the 7200mah but I'm running stock 17.5 touring and usgt so 6 minute max. Will the higher mah also give more punch or is that just based on the c rating. I'm comparing the same brand too! |
Its all about the amp rating. If the esc wants the amps will the lipo provide it.
For example a 5000 mAh (5.0 Ah) battery rated at 80C should be able to deliver 5.0 x 80 = 440 Amps For example a 7200 mAh (7.2 Ah) battery rated at 80C should be able to deliver 7.2 x 80 = 576 Amps Is 80c continuous or burst C rating? For the formula you need continuous. If you esc does not require the amps the only benefit is longer run times. |
You can be pretty sure that anything above 40~50C with this size batties it is a burst value.

The esc in using is a orca vritra vx. I'm not sure if the battery is burst or continuous.

All else being equal the larger pack should maintain voltage under load a touch better and thus provide a little more punch electrically speaking. Yes even at low amp loads like a 17.5T.
But, it likely is heavier too, which can hurt overall performance more than a slightly better voltage. Especially if the car can't achieve minimum weight with the larger pack. |

Ok good to know thank you

Spec racing- 5000 to 6000 to keep weight down. You will see less fade throughout a five minute run with the larger 7200 but at a weight penalty like others have said.
