Default 1/8 550 Brushless motors - modifications

So I am looking to see perhaps who has swapped hardware i.e. to Ti. from Steel (end bell mounting etc.) Also who has machined / milled cooling slots. I only ask as I have come across a Tekin T8 motor, and comparing it to my Trinity D8's and Reds Motors, it seems a bit "closed-up" then again it seems to keep dirt out better!

If there is a dedicated 550 motor nodding thread, some one please direct me - I am not talking about rotor swapping though.

I prefer the closed motor design since it will keep dirt and other debris out of the motor (I run offroad). If you're worried about keeping the motor cool, it's a lot more effective to put a fan blowing air on the motor or a heatsink/fan combination as opposed to having ventilation holes. Those holes really don't do much in terms of cooling because there typically isn't much cross motor airflow (at least in most 1/8 scale applications)

Thanks, I see where you are coming from, I am curious if structurally and weight wise there would be an issue. Then again I am sure ti. hardware will be just fine.
