HP DPS 600 PB Mod
 

Seen a URC article on how to mod this power supply and decided to give it a try as I have two of these. You need 2 ea. 4 mm female connectors, some 12 gauge wire, 3 ea. servo connectors, and some shrink tubing. Solder the wire to the power banks by splitting the wire, then solder the female connectors to the other end. Use the servo female connectors and join pins 4, 6, 8, and 10 together. Believe it or not that is it, took 20 minutes going at my pace. I am now reading 12.51 volts and the fan is so quiet. I did this as I have a Turnigy Reaktor 300W on it's way. This is a 575 watt power supply! I can run two of those chargers depending on battery size. The positve side is on the right, and negative on the left.

Got a chance to use this with a Hobby King Reaktor 300 watt unit. This power supply is very powerful. I kicked the charger up to 10 amps on a 3s battery. I was using a wire off my other charger that is only rated for 8 amps max, and the wire got hot, so I stopped and made a new wire that could handle 10 amps easily, scary. Anyway this is a good setup, and the price is definitely right. I got less than $100 in a 20 amp charger and power supply. I also give the Reaktor high marks as well.

I am planning to get a second Reaktor to use with this power supply. Not sure a 300 or 250 watt?

I forgot to add, you can get two of these power supplies off EBAY for $30 shipped to the house, amazing! Convert both and sell one and get a free power supply off your labor. You will need power cords as they do not come with them, also off EBAY.

I had some time and decided to mod another power supply. I did it in twenty minutes taking my time. I went ahead and used it to store a battery, worked great. I used two 4 mm female plugs, some wire, and female receivers(3 ea.) off a servo extension, plus solder and heat shrink tubing.

I used this system at the race last night with the Reaktor 300 watt charger , and it was amazing, using this power supply hooked to a 300 watt charger. I charged a 4s battery from 4 volts per cell to full charge in 6 minutes at 8 amps. I never had a problem keeping up with two cars, and charged other peoples batteries as well.

I finally got around to adding extra leads so I could run two chargers off this. I am using the Hobby King Turnigy Reaktor 300 and 250 watt chargers. I charged 4 batteries tonight @ 1.5c and it was fast!

I have two of these that I am getting to convert as well. Glad to hear this went well for you. Any way you can upload some photos? It's always nice to see how others complete it. I am going to look into the he servo connector, I was trying to fugite out a clean way to make those connections.

Get some servo extensions. You don't need long ones, 15cm would be good. You cut the male end off and use the female ends.

You can also get just female ends off ebay. I snip the wires I don't use on the servo extensions. Just solder 4,6,8,and 10 together using the servo extensions. I also soldered two wires together on each side so I could run two chargers, and it worked great. I hooked up the Reaktor 250 and 300 watt chargers, and no problem with this power supply. I fast charged a 4s battery in 20 minutes, try that.
