Newbie Battery Help Needed

Hi,

I need to desperately upgrade my battery. I've been out of the game a long time, not only is my battery 5+ years old, it's a 6 cell NiMH 4400mAH hooked up with Deans Connectors. I am also pretty sure that by getting a new battery, if LiPo, I'll need a new charger. My current charger is a Dynamite Vision Peak.

So lets start here..

Thanks

I guess is should also pose some questions -

What are the different connectors used and what are some of the pros/cons, which is more common?

What mAh level (?) is necessary?

Again my car is old... an old 7.1 LRP ESC and a ~13T Trinity Speed Machine Motor...

I eventually plan on upgrading my electronics so keep that in mind.

Thanks.

Nvm, I'm going to just buy another NiMH for my XXX. I plan on getting a new car with new electronics and will look at SMC batteries.

I'd say stick with deans if you already have them. They are still a very popular connector. There are other options out there each with it's own pros and cons.

As for your charger, yes you'll need a new charger since that Dynamite doesn't support Lipos. There are lots of good choices for multi-chemistry chargers. Including ones that have built in AC transformers if that's a plus for you.

If you're just getting your feet wet again, nothing wrong with getting a new NIMH if you can find one. In the last couple of years since Lipos have become so prevalent and cheap, the NIMH are getting harder to find.

Once you make the jump to brushless, that would be a logical time to move to lipos.
