At least when the R1 V16 was out and about last year, I felt the motor worked quite well, especially when I dropped in a torque rotor. in the 2wd buggy class I was also running a heavier buggy at the time (converted tekno EB210) and after setting it to around 42 degrees of timing (track 100ft straight) it ran very cool, and consistent for almost 10 minutes (kept going after race finished since it was end of day). Comparedit to a tuned V16 and I was right there with the driver, and his car was set at minimum weight.

Personally I feel motors are getting to a point where they are getting quite similar in performance.

Just purchased a new Pico and 17.5 v2 combo, ran for about five minutes and stopped. Now has steering but no throttle and only solid red light. Tried new sensor cable and different motor won’t go into calibration mode.
Any advice be most appreciated

Download the Maclan panel for your PC if you don't already have the Prolink. You need to turn off the esc thermal protection, motor thermal protection, and LVC cutoff.

Just purchased a 17.5 v2. Have one practice day on it. What timing are you guys running for 2wd buggy? Also what gearing are you running, I have a b6.1?
Played with timing and gearing but couldn't seem to find a sweet spot. But with a fan the motor never got hot.

Hi guys, I'm currently on the ledge with grabbing the mmax pico, I am putting together a 17.5 yz2 dtm2 , I have spent the last few days reading up on esc options, initially i was leaning towards the xerun xr10 stock spec, but given the rep maclan seems to have and also the plug and play with my phone (to me that is just awesome) I'm now 95% sure this is the way I want to go, I would like to ask some feedback regarding the internal bec, the stats look good, how have you guys found the maclan escs holding up long term with running your servos ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers
Matt

I have never had a single bec issue or complaint (I am USA tech support for Maclan Racing)

Also for the red light no throttle issue, have you contacted tech support? my email is ian.maize(at)hobbyauthority-dist(dot)com

What’s the best 17.5 Maclan motor for high bite clay like OCRC (reedy race)? I have all maclan ESC’s, love the company and support but know nothing about the motors. I’m coming back from a year off RC so may need some additional torque rotor wise as I’m sure I’ll be missing my lines needing some extra punch to clear some jumps. Any additional rotors needed and what are the nuances of the maclan stock motors compared to the other motor of the month club (familiar with r1 motiv tsr etc)? Just been out for a year so don’t know how motors have progressed

Thankyou for getting back to me, it's greatly appreciated , I have to admit I had my LHS order the pico this morning along with your MRR 6.5t ( for a different vehicle ) and also 2 3600HV shortys, these will be my first maclan items
I'm over in Australia, and from what I have seen and heard, alot of people go for the hobbywing and muchmore items, (used to be hobbywing and tekin) i have hobbywing and tekin items and no gripes with either manufacturers,(I'm personally not a fan of the hobbywing pc link setup tho)
I guess what really pushed me over the edge to try your esc, is the programming, I love esc programming, it's my happy place! (99% of the time ), I pre downloaded the app and I've gotta say it's Very impressive
I dare say if the pico/pro are as impressive as they sound once I get my hands on the pico, I'll be placing another order with my Local and grabbing the Pro to pair up with the 6.5t
Cheers

The MMR team edition V2 is the latest. The motor is great out of the box with a broad power band(high torque black rotor). Will keep up with any of the competition! There is an option orange rotor(ultra high torque) part #MCL4144 available. Maclan also offers the motor fully spec'd with all the goodies(Orange rotor, and alloy screws)part # MCL1034p if you want to go that way.

I was advised to run 50 degrees of motor timing and 28/72 or 29/72 gearing.

Finally had some time to install the pico today, very impressed so far, using Samsung s10 5g the usb link has been spot on, the app is working as it should, installed b3.1 firmware without any issues, still yet to get out and run but yeah very happy with it at this stage.
