I run 17.5 blinky buggy and my Gen3 17.5 RPM is solid. I'm running indoor clay.

Running Blinky 17.5 4wd buggy in Oz. motor is great, very competitive with all other motors. I won a final on the weekend (my first ever) stock classes are very competitive down here.

I had a mixed class event 2weeks ago. Like CJ I turned on the ESC timing. Beat a reasonably fast 4wd mod guy, 8th nitro guy too. They are good motors.

On that, I've got my state titles the following weekend. I'd like to to rebuild the motor this weekend. Get it as good as can be. Has anyone done a maintenance yet. Offer any advice?

Is there some Tekin resources on doing a motor maintenance. I plan on just taking it apart, cleaning the rotor. I'll blow down the can, no solvents or anything just a brush down and air. Then spray the bearings with methylated spirit, bow down and oil. General clean of screws, etc and put it back together. Am I on the right track? Also any tips on re installing the rotor. I always get there but I've got a hunch there might be a cool trick that I don't know about.

Thanks in advance guys.

Why did Tekin choose to use some sort of snot adhesive that sticks like bear **** to a blanket on the bottom of the motor? Keep it in the box? What, the long box tabs and tape holding the box together wasn't enough? Why yes, I'd love to waste time cleaning this **** off a new motor.

Come on Tekin.

It was to keep them positioned to see the turn while in the box. It comes off and cleans up nicely. The performance of the motor will make up for the hassle of the booger. What turn and application are you using so the forum can get you started on a basic recommendation?

Eh my apologies, a guy shouldn't get so bitter over the small stuff. Just been one of those days. Motor booger broke the camels back I suppose.

I have a 6.5t G3 that is going into a XB4. I'm planning on using a RS Pro esc that I've had sitting around for a while. Went with #13G TQ wire to wire this one up. Would have liked to use #12 but the posts on the RS Pro are quite small, trying to save myself a little soldering grief. Hopefully the motor draw doesn't light the leads up.

I highly would recommend upgrading to the new Gen2 escs to get the full benefit of the new power. The new software will blow your mind with the smoothness and accessibility. I use Tekin 12g on the posts with no problem after all thats what they came with. What is your typical track size?

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to get a new ESC and motor system soon for another 2wd buggy, will probably swap the ESC over to the gen2 then and put the rspro in the 2wd, right now though I want to try the rspro out, the ESC has been sitting in its box for a couple years, never been used.

The track I will be running on is in my backyard. Neighbors love me. Lol it's 80'x60', longest straight is 60', have a 20' triple and 15' table top as the biggest jumps.

I've always had good luck starting with the gearing suggested in the TLR manual. So with that in mind...manual says start with 78 spur 24 pinion.

Here's a link to the manual in pdf form...the gearing chart is on page 33.

These motors are great, run them in my offroad truck and dirt oval.

Hi,

I just purchased a Tekin Gen 3 5.5 motor for my 4wd buggy (Carisma 4XS), and I was just wondering what a suitable final drive ratio would be? I run a medium-sized, low-medium grip outdoor clay track, with the length of the straight being approximately 20 metres (65 feet). I am running a Hobbywing V3.1 esc. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark
