Battery "Connection Break"?
 

I bought 2 of these Turnigy 5000mAh 3S 30C lipos from HobbyKing. I soldered new deans connectors on and when I went to charge them, one worked fine but the other is giving me a "Connection Break" error.

I tried swapping locations on my Hitec X4 AC charger, the same battery still has the problem. I rushed the solder job on that one so I thought that might be the problem, or that I messed up the connection to the packs inside the case but I measured the voltage across the connector and the balance plug with a multimeter and everything looks fine (3.8V each cell, 11.4V total, etc). Not sure what the issue is.

EDIT: The battery works fine when connected to a speed controller, just wont play nice with my charger. I even tried a different charger and got the same result.

Does the battery run the load OK..., see if it can power the destined equipment.
Or if you have the necessary - load it up and see which cell drops...

Sorry I'm not sure what you're suggesting.

Check which mode you're on, charge or balancing mode. Make sure on cells charging. Check battery of polarization. You may +/-leads.

Neither mode works. Connector polarization is correct. Also, the battery works fine when connected to a speed controller, just wont play nice with my charger. I even tried a different charger and got the same result.

Use DVM on battery Should read 11.1-11.4v. Start wiggling positive lead, then negative leads and find if voltage fluctuates. You got a break in the wire , When you rushed through soldering you may have done something incorrectly. Or else exchange the lipo where you purchased it.

If you discharge mode and you get the same error Connection break try another connector.

I tried an experiment. I plugged the battery into the charger without the balance plug and still guy the error. Tried the same thing with a good battery and got no error. That tells me it has to be the power connector or leads.

Like I said with a DVM it'll show what's wrong. If voltage is present. Try again reordering the connector or new connector. Exchange the battery if not the connector.

I replaced the power connector and it's working now. So it was either the connector or my sh!tty soldering job. Thanks for the help, guys.

same thing happened here. I squirted some wd-40 in the connector and it cleared up. I think maybe some flux from the lead solder would not let it connect.

The spraying wd40 method along with scratching the inside of the deans connector. Worked like a champ no more connection break.. And I'm not out 60 bucks thanks.man
