It's time for some new lipos and I want to give the intellect ip's a shot. Can anyone who has had them let me know how they were? Thanks guys.

I run the 6000 90c 5mm bullet lipos in mod touring car and the 3500 90c shorty pack in my F1 car. Good packs and I've had no issues whatsoever. No swelling etc. Very good packs imo.

Thunder Power Lipos

So I need some 2s packs for 4wd sct. I want the best of the best, and from what I have been reading TP just might be that. So I went to there site, G6 65c 6000mAh, velocity 70c 6000mAh and superlite 25c8000mAh is what I saw. I imagine the G6 and velocity packs are the best as the superlite 8000mAh id only 25c. Then I started looking for prices and places like tower hobbies which are listed on TP site as a distributor for them says the G6 is discontinued. And the velocity packs are pre-order everywhere, so I guess the velocity packs are the newest and greatest from TP correct? And if I want there best I should wait for them? I run smc 7200mAh right now so wondering how the TP 6000mAh is gonna hold up to 4wd sct. I also read that Fantom's lipos where rebranded TP's but Fantom offers a 7000mAh pack so I don't know if that's true? Also read and thought about trying the Fantoms as I read they are also one of if not the best packs. I thought the intellect ip packs were tops too but from what I read it's TP, Fantom, Reedy? I was also thinking of the new Trinity white carbon packs, if you buy direct from trinity you can buy the white carbons that are picked as being in the top 5% of the best packs. I don't care about the price can someone shed light on this, thanks and sorry this is so long.

Wanted the 7600mAh 100c SHV packs for 4wd sct, but thanks. Thats a great price and if I ran 2wd buggy I would take them off your hands. Did you go to a different brand?

sprinter52 06-22-2015 06:00 AM

Reedy Lipos, less mAh for more money?

In the market for 2s lipos for 4wd sct, read that Reedy were perhaps one of the top three on the market? So was looking at them on the net and wondering why there 2s 6000mAh 65c 5mm bullet packs are more expensive than there 2s 7000mAh 65c 5mm bullet packs? And that's not just one site that wants to get rid of certain stock, that's everywhere. Anyone?

Fantom hasent used TP cells for a while. Current line of packs are the same line as SMC.

Really? Cuz SMC never carried a 7000mAh pack? I jave some SMC 7200mAh packs though. Unless Fantom list them as 7000 and SMC list as 7200?

What do you think are the best packs out there and can you list and packs that are the same just re labeled. I see EAM carries Orca packs now anyone know if they are re labeled Intellects?

The final price of a product usually reflects what they had to pay the actual manufacturer. Perhaps the price of lipos is increasing, and the 6500mah pack is newer.

The lipo market is akin to snake oil. So many brands inflate C ratings and capacity it's not even funny. I wish there were some sort of official benchmark that could be put into place to stabilize these ratings. I mean lets be real here. A 7000mah lipo rated at 100C should be able to burst at 700 amps. Do you really expect that to be a reality?

EDIT - This thread got moderated to hell and back, so my post makes no sense and is not in context any longer.

On Amain, the 6000 pack questioned by the OP appears to have been added in June of this year; the 7000 in 2013 so the 6000 is the "freshest" in lipo technology, i.e. I would expect it could possibly have lower IR or whatnot.

If I needed a new 4wd SC pack right now though, I'd order three of these from SMC for the price of a single "big-name" pack. As long as you're buying from a company that actually tests the stock they receive to make sure they don't ship a disproportionate number of DOA packs (i.e., SMC/Promatch and not a place with "ships from warehouse USA!" on it's website), the "smaller" brand packs will be just as good on the track, especially in a mod-class application, and way better in the pocketbook. Debating the "best" packs for classes where every car in it is way overpowered is kinda pointless anyway. When I did run 4wd SC alot, I could go 6 minutes on a 5000 pack easily, you don't need to lug the weight of a 7000 pack around; 6000-6500 will let you make practice runs longer than you should anyway.

I run the 7000+ mAh packs cuz they are the weight I need to balance my truck. In the scale with a 7200 SMC the truck is dead nuts 50/50. And isn't it true the less you push/amount of mAh you pull from the pack the easier it is on the pack perhaps extending the longevity? But like I said I run them to balance my chassis.
