Transmitter/Reciever range?

How do I know what the effective range is, of my several trans/rec combos is (assuming no obstructions)? EG. the Futaba T6EX vs Fly Sky FS-CT6b. Or does it matter? I - almost - lost a sail boat last week, but that may have been the result of a too strong wind.

I think futaba has that info on the spec pages on their site.

in my experience futaba has the best range for surface radios.

I too read that Futaba has the longest range.

A friend asked me the other day how far I could drive my car under control. I drove about 1000ft before I decided to turn around. That's a Futaba 4PLS with a receiver with no antenna.

I sure with a sailboat it's hard to determine if you're still under control since the controls don't necessarily have an immediate result that's visible at distance.
