I to am looking for a lipo charger. So to piggy back on the OP. There are so many different chargers that range from $10 all the way to $150+ Its hard to choose. I only have one 2s at the moment and may go to 2-3 in the future. So my question is, what do you all look for in a lipo charger? Maybe list the first thing you look for in the specs and move on to the 2nd and so on and so on. Im also on a budget and wanna say $60 or less is the range I want to stay in. I know I like the balance while it charges feature. Anything else?

mine our multipurpose.
charge cars, airplanes and helicopters so it might not help you but id find one that will charge your battery in time before the next heat aka charge at 2 and 3s probably in the 250-500 watt range (compliments of my air addiction i can charge 5 cars at once and be done in 15 minutes) |
Things I look for in a charger is watts and cells..
wattage...over 100 watts and cells since I have one 6 cell and many many 3 and 2 cells..I need a charger I can hookup 2 of my ps to and run at 26 volts .. Id get the X120 from hobbyking . $22 now..http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html great buy at said price ,,make sure to click the free shipping on final checkout.. |

I was thinking the Onyx 235. Any good? Is that Racers Edge any good? What about that Hitec X1 Touch? Seems a little gimmicky (more flash/show than durability/quality). |

I too am on a budget of <$60 (maybe $80) for a good charger. I know something like an iCharger or Hitec X1 and a separate/dedicated power-supply are best; but too expensive for me (for now).

Another question. Do u guys balance your batteries everytime you charge? Does a balance charge take longer than a regular charge?

What kind of batteries are you going to be charging? If you are only doing 2S packs then one of the many 50 watt AC/DC chargers will be fine but if you need to charge 3S packs or bigger than AC/DC isn't a good option due to the low wattage. I would recommend the Hitec out of the 3 you listed purely due to Hitec's excellent customer service should you have a problem with the charger.
Just 2S packs (LiFePo4, 4200mAh 30C, 2S 6.6V), and probably for good (I only do 1/10 TC RC cars). Customer service and long warranties are always good; probably one of the biggest factors since it tells you a lot about quality and replacement. I notice Onyx does 5-year warranties. But at the same time, there's mixed reviews on the 235 (some say really good..others say they've had problems/breakage). |

It's one of those you don't need it until you do deals. Problem is predicting ahead of time when it's needed. I view it like insurance, while I haven't had an accident in a long time and don't plan on having one, I still keep the insurance policies paid up. |

Anyone have experience with it? |
