The SkyRC D100 charger caught my eye so I picked it up:

You can get it from HK or China on Ebay for about $115, other places more local it's in the $150 range.

It can use either AC or DC power sources (so you can plug into a wall, or connect to your automobile battery when out and about), and can charge two batteries at once. You can do your 2S battery on one more and 4S on the other.

It's a 100watt charger .. and my charges for my 2S and 4S take around 20 minutes (I don't charge at max amperage).

Wow! That has pretty much every spec of the Orion Duo Touch charger for less than half of the price. That is pretty intriguing! I have enough packs that I have gotten away with a single port charger for years but have been thinking of getting a dual port charger. Those specs and that price are very appealing.

OK most "better" chargers do not have a built in power supply, in other words they run off 12volts like a car battery so in order to plug them into a 115/240 wall outlet you have to use what is called a power supply. The power supply converts your home electricity into 12volt type electricity or from alternating current to direct current power.

I think some important factors that we are missing is are you a racer or a basher these will have some impact on the more ideal charger for you.

As some have pointed out there are many different chargers that may work well for you but another option is to purchase to single port chargers there are some benefits to this method as well, on a dual port you can burn out one side of the charger or both sides, if you had 2 single output chargers you could replace one charger.

another advantage to having 2 chargers is the cost single chargers are less costly than duals but may cost 10 to 20 more depending on the chargers.

check some places like hobbyking.com or stormer hobbies has good deals on orion chargers.

as for the power source I prefer the external power supply for my charger the chargers that use external power supply's are less money for more power handling capacity and if the power supply fails I can simply buy another power supply which is much cheaper than a whole charger.

an advantage of an a/c or d/c charger is going to be that it is more compact all in one type of deal and there are some good chargers that have this feature but they will cost a little more and generally will top out at 6-10 amps charging power which depending on the size of your packs may be good.

note the charge current and wattage are a total so 10 amps max on 2 batteries

For someone new, I had the hitec x4 ac plus, and it was a great charger. It will do 4s, but not the fastest. It is a great charger for 2s. If your primarily running 2S, and occasionally running 4S, I wouldn't look elswhere.

I use this basic AC charger for my 1/16th NanoTechs (2S). It can handle 4S and dual charge. It is a very basic charger though, no storage mode, discharge, etc. But honestly speaking, it works just fine.

I stop the car when the cells drop around to 3.83-3.84v and place it in my firebag for storage. I don't cycle my Lipo's.

I also use a Dynamite Passport UltraForce (single charger) AC/DC for charging full sized 2S Lipo's. There is a "Dual" variant too if you're interested.

There can be monetary benefits if you use a computer power supply vs. one of those fancy power stations. Most people with a fancy charger have a fancy power supply/power station.

I'd suggest considering how often this equipment actually fails. I've been racing on and off since the 1980s and the only charger/supply failure I've experienced was a few years ago when a charger fell off my table, face first into the gravel, and it cracked the LCD screen.

Hitec repaired that charger for free, outside of warranty.

Based on my experience, I'd go for functionality / convenience over cost savings.

I agree. I'm a huge fan of the Hitec chargers, and Hitec in general (customer support, and product quality/pricing).

I have that four port at home (great for supporting my kids running their Slashes), and for a long time I traveled with two of the 80watt X1 chargers for racing.

iCharger (206/208), they have very nice additional features
and external p/s, HK has good one 350w for reasonable price
You will have safe 300w charging ability in very compact design
