TBLE-02S problem
 

I have a Tamiya M05 which I recently upgraded some parts on.
After I finished putting the parts on (TRF Dampers, front uprights, steering turnbuckle) the steering wouldn't return to centre then while troubleshooting that problem, the ESC stopped working and just beeps with a red light flashing.

I tried cycling through the settings but its still doing it. I charged the battery (2s LiPo) and transmitter, and tried a second receiver, but its still doing the beep flash thing.

Both receivers work in a second car so I don't think the controller/receiver are the problem.

Can someone tell me how I troubleshoot an ESC to determine if its at fault? I don't have a spare.

Is your receiver and transmitter binded? It almost sound like it lost the bind.

I can understand the frustration on the TBLE02S. I run them on most of my newer Tamiya chassis but it was frustrating setting it up in the beginning.

The owner's manual is poorly written too. They should have block diagrams instead of all the words you have to read.

Once you confirmed that the receiver and transmitter has properly binded, redo the setup on the TBLE02S from the beginning by pressing the set button and turning on your power.

Out of frustration and with a race meet looming, I bought a second mini, fully hopped up with the racing Hobbywing 13T/35A combo.

On that one, the motor goes, but the servo doesn't even respond. Then I tried my old servo and now that one doesn't work either, even when testing it on my XRay T4, which is a known good car :(

Did you try without your servo connected (the original one)? I had a similar problem where the servo fried and when it was connected to the receiver, it would cause the ESC not to arm. Unplug the servo and it was fine.

Were all the electronics working before you started started your upgrades? And they were not part of the upgrade process?

Yes, I tried with and without the servo connected (on the first car with the original problem), and yes, it was working before we upgraded the parts (Dampers, Steering turnbuckle, front uprights) and initially seemed OK afterwards as it was running/steering on the stand.

I also tried it with a second known good receiver and have the same problem. The ESC is beeping at me the same it does when the ESC/Servo is wired incorrectly, but everything appears wired OK.

I opened the TBLE-02S up and had a look - one of the chips was burned out so that explains why it wasn't working properly. Time to source a replacement.

I ended up grabbing a Hobbywing 13T combo and fitted that last week, along with the gear diff out of the "parts car" I bought, then took the car racing. That turned into a disaster but at least I am getting really good at rebuilding the thing :D

Tamiya Build DT-03 is having major issues with the TBLE-02 S ESC!!

Alright so, here's the issue, can't believe not ONE stupid build hasn't gone painless.

The issue is that after tons of attempts to bind my Receiver with my Controller, the only way I could do that was attaching a battery pack on to it and then it would, going through the ESC didn't send power to the receiver at all.

So, what I'm looking at now is that unless I attach an external battery pack the car won't work at all, which makes it even more confusing here's why:

• With the battery pack both servo and speed controller works fine
• Without it, nothing works, yet I have it hooked up the right way.
• With JUST the battery pack it's only the servo I can control with the controller.
• Without the battery pack I cannot control anything.

This leads me to believe that the TBLE-02 S isn't sending power to the receiver at all. It is beeping green (short tones).

I have the Channel 1 for the servo and Channel 2 for the ESC and STILL nothing. I put the ESC into the Binding or battery slot and nothing happens. I then add the external Battery Pack and into the binder battery slot and it works.

I just don't get it, does anyone one know what to do with this TBLE-02 S??? It just isn't playing nice. Does it need to be set up?

When I turn it on it's just beeping right away, nothing happens. I have configured it to run with Brushed Motor as I'm just using the Torque Stock 540 engine it came with.

Please guys if you have any clue, please help cause this is wreaking my brain here.

It's the Neo Fighter Buggy I'm working on and the electronics just don't want to play nice. 

PS. CARSON Reflex Wheel Ultimate Touch 2.4Ghz is my controller. It did bind well with the extra battery so it's not that, it's the TBLE-02S that's not playing nice again

Yes Tamiya ESCs tend to have fairly weak BEC power, likely not enough for many modern servos. Which servo are you using? The product page includes this warning:
I think one way to test is to leave the servo unplugged and see if the ESC will work without the extra receiver battery. If it does looks like an external BEC with enough power is needed as already mentioned.

It sounds plausible guys, I mean from what I am seeing it could very well be the issue. I'll have to try it out in a moment.

I am using a Futaba Servo S148 3,0kg !!! I think you guys are right! IT WON'T power this if it can only handle 1.5!! that's ridiculous if that's the limit. :( What should I do now? Get a new ESC or new Servo?

Finally, how did you guys find out about the BEC? Where does it state it cannot draw enough power through that set up? Also what does the BEC stand for? :/

I am seriously seeing this to be the main issue! I bet you guys are right, I just don't get why a new ESC TBLE-02S cannot send more power through when others can. On my HotShot I have the same Servo and different ESC and it works fine. :(

Wow that's surprising, I wouldn't expect a problem with a S148. Especially just getting it going, 8mA (0.008A) at idle is far lower than 1.5A. Might be some other issue? :confused: I still recommend unplugging the servo as a test.

ESC TBLE-02s

BEC stands for Battery Eliminator Circuit. As in eliminate the traditional receiver battery of 4.8 to 6V. The circuit, basically a voltage regulator, drops the higher voltage of a typical surface RC main battery pack down to the traditional level safe for all servos and receivers.
