DPS-600PB Power Supply Modification

I got two of these on the way and I will need some help making them work. Please help me with some tips on how to convert them to a power supply.

This is the thread I used to convert mine. It works great. I picked up a 1K pot to adjust the voltage up to 13.7, at 13.8 it would shut off. I did not put the switch in like he did. I just unplug it from the wall.

Thanks, really appreciate it. I will take my time putting this together. I have them now and can't decide to use one or both. I guess that will depend on the charger I get.

They have the maximum wattage output at 12.4 volts , so for a charger power supply it is not advantageous to adjust voltage. Solder 4-6-8-10 together, if you don't want the fan on high all the time, leave 4 isolated if you do. (The fan will speed up if it gets hot)

Did you use 100mm shrink wrap on yours? and where did you get it?

DRTMI 03-19-2015 06:45 PM

No, I Didn't The only place I know of to get it is Hobby King, and they want an arm and a leg to ship a meter of the stuff. It's only available in the International warehouse.

You can find it in the US too but stuff that big tends to be thick walled, chemical resistant double throw down tubing from hell and can run $50 a foot. The cheap stuff does exist though so do some digging to find it.

Here's some clear 4 inch for about 11 a foot:

I hope this is right; Ebay # 171145703868, just bought two for $4.13 shipped.

It's the thinner PVC clear stuff. It shrinks at a lower temp than polyolefin, and will tear easier. Just use a heat gun until it starts shrinking and be careful to not overheat it.

platgof 03-21-2015 08:49 PM

At that price I may double wrap it.

DRTMI 03-21-2015 08:55 PM

Yup. The stuff from Hobby King is the thicker stuff for electrical, but the shipping on the stuff is crazy.

I bought two shipped for $4, so double it is, and should get here next week as well. I read where you need to drop the ground from the doner ps when going piggy back? Just cut it and shrink tube it to make it inactive? like an esc? Now I need some 400 mm shrink wrap to do the whole thing.

How would I use a 24 volt system in the Hi Tech X-2 charger when it specifies 12 -18 volts and 60 amps? Is there a limiter built into the system to adjust for this?

Nope it is 12 or 24. You should really ground the second PS the correct way instead of cutting the ground terminal off the plug. The link I posted covers it after the initial conversion.
