Thoughts on avc
What are people's thoughts on the new avc from spektrum

You know I was just wondering myself. I was wondering if anyone has installed this on another brand of vehicle? I was watching vids on YT how much this changes the handling.

I run avc in an emaxx and an erevo. Works pretty well. Especially when I'm snow bashing or doing speed runs across the golf course.
|
I decided to pick up a dx4c with the 2 recivers when they were running that deal at horizon a whiel back. I put on of them in my mini 8ight and only get maybe 2 runs of my half done track im building at my house and the snow and freeze came in. iv got a bunch of other vehicles so I was wondering what people have tried. I may throw it in my emaxx since you seem to have good luck.
Wonder what a crawler would do with it like and scx10 |
For hobby driving OK, for competitive racing NO.
|
I agree for bashing it would fun to have. But I feeling it would ruin racing.

People needing this to drive a car must ask their selves if they have choosen the right hobby. Driving a car is all about keeping control and finding the right setup and not some devices doing it for you.

GM Racing tried this in the 90's and ROAR banned the speedo from ROAR sanctioned races.
Im sure ROAR will do the same (ban the use of AVC), and so will some tracks. If you want to learn how to drive on a track and race.. this is not the way. If you want to play around with your friends at a backyard track, then have fun. |
I've converted most of my high power vehicles over to it
My opinion It should be a ROAR standard . Anything to move the hobby forward is a good thing . To those who say its unfair to the true sport of it F1 , Motogp , wsbk ,Indy All professional motorsports use technology to the fullest advantage . No one can say that the old was faster safer more controllable yesterday without electronics than today with electronics . AVC makes the Fast Faster and gives the rest the ability to get better crashers still gonna crash |

crashers still gonna crash AVC will make a fast driver slower before it does anything else. AVC takes direct control of the vehicle away from the driver. This is not what you want when racing. It prevents poor drivers from getting better because their poor habits are not translating to poor performance on the vehicle end. And it gives poor drivers an unfair advantage over similarly skilled drivers who use different equipment. R/C racing is a contest of skill; gyros, AVC technology and anything else that supplants skill has no place in racing. (All that said, AVC makes for a hell of a good time when bashing :) ) |

Also, it takes away the real fun of RWD cars. Even on my real RWD cars I turn dynamic yaw control off. It wasn't for me. I still use the receiver, but with AVC turned off and running it on another chassis. |
