Testing Neewer Motor, temp question
 
Hello, I just received a new motor in the mail today,
A neewer 4082 1620kv. http://www.ebay.com/itm/B4082-1620kv...item58b78a2c36

I hooked it up to my esc (a brand new Quicrun 150 which I just soldered Deans to) and gave it a rip without connecting it to the drivetrain of the car. It went from ambient temp, about 70 degrees, to about 110 in less than 2 minutes of throttle play with maybe 45 seconds or so of WOT.

This concerns me because it was under no stress of actually having to move the car, let alone spin the wheels. I know the temp aren't too hot yet, but I was concerned about how quickly they climbed under no stress.

Is this normal? Is it possible I botched the soldering of the Deans so badly that it's causing this? Or is it just a crappy motor?

Free revving a brushless motor can cause heat buildup quickly with new or used motors. I'd install it, and hit with a temp gun every 2 minutes or so, and see what it does.

I agree, i'm not sure how much reliable information you can get by just free revving it in your hand.
