does anybody know if these batteries are going to roar approved?The ones I am referring to are the ones people are running in the b5m cars.

Yes. I believe the Protek one definitely is.

I don't see any listed on the Roar battery approval page or mentioned in the forums.

ROAR is aware of them, but I haven't heard what, if anything, has been decided. Rules would need to be ratified before any approvals took place.

There are plenty of ROAR-approved saddle packs that will fit, so it's not keeping anyone from racing. But there certainly is a convenience factor to consider.

If you are a ROAR member, you might try posting the question on the ROAR forums. If my information is correct, there is a new electric section director, so you could also try emailing him.
