2wd SCT servo specs
What is the minimum amount of torque one should run for a steering servo. I'm looking to upgrade my kids rtr servos and already own a savox 1257 and a protek ss which have a 138oz and 160oz Torque respectively.

I like my truck to be min 100oz. I really like Spektrum 6040.

Yeah, about 150 oz/in is good at about .10 seconds. You really don't need much more than that unless you are running on extreme traction surfaces. Then 200 oz/in. I have run a JR 9100S ( way to fast, had to turn the speed down), then the 9100T ( obnoxious amount of torque but not fast enough) a couple different HiTech's and have had a XP 1015 in there for a couple years not. That's plenty fast and strong for me and my daughter...

Thanks, I've become quite a fan of protek servos so I may end up buying the 100t or the 130t. The track is high bite clay which is something I really didn't take into account. I had decent luck with Specktrum/Savox (same servo I believe) but found sometimes they struggled to center and make the most obnoxious sound.

The servos you are using are fine. If you want to go up some, try a 2274 Savox servo. It will be overkill at first, but it is brushless. Amain has a really good price on them right now. The 2271 is another high quality servo that would be great in a 2wd, and it is stupid fast, but I would get the 2274 as you can use it in just about anything later on, and it is hard to break as well. I am using a 1257 in a Dex 410 4wd buggy, but seriously want either the 2271 or 2274. I use the 2274 in a Desc410 4wd sct.

Take a look at xpert servos. i use si4431 servo. 0.08/60 degree speed , 17.5 kg-cm torque @6v. it is brushless and quite and fast servo. Those values make this servo very versatile to use for offroad racing.

I'm not one to try and sell you on any one brand. You asked a question about specs and I gave you an answer.;) |
I'm not a brand specific person either. I have a protek 130ss in my stadium truck, an xpert low profile servo in my rb6 and a protek 130t in my 4wd sct so I could care less about brand. I have a savox and a spectrum servo in my bag that I've had no issues with other than the god awful sound they make. I appreciate all the responses but mainly was just concerned about the Torque values being sufficient for a 2wd sct on a high bite surface
