550 vs. 540 gearing question

Considering trying out a 550 sensored brushless motor. Currently running a 540 7.5T (4700kv) motor. I'm trying to figure out what pinion I would need if I went with the 550 motor in the same application. The 550 motor I'm looking at is also rated as a 7.5T but the kv rating is 2650.

I'm currently running a 17-tooth pinion on the 7.5 540 motor. What would I need for the above mentioned 550 motor to get similar performance?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

In what vehicle?

Want to try it in my TS2 (2wd SCT).

I have a bunch of 48 pitch pinions, but the 550 motor has a 5mm shaft and I all my pinions are 1/8" bore.

My buddy at the track ran a 550 in his stadium truck and the battery died half way through the first qualifier...Not sure the specs on the battery but I know he switched to a different battery....Just something to make note of.

With a 17*4700/2650=~30T pinion, you will be geared for the same no-load wheel-speed as your current set-up, assuming you don't change anything else.

As the 550 should be a bit more powerful, you will be able to gear it a bit higher, without reducing wheel-axle Torque compared to the 540.
