Need help finding a 4S lipo
 

I'm just now getting into the 1/8 buggy scene and I'm looking for a decent 4S lipo that won't break the bank. I have the option of running 2x2S lipos since I run 1/10 buggy but I think I just want to get some dedicated batteries for the 1/8 buggy. but I'm not sure if they're roar approved or not. I was also looking at some of the eco power lipos that amain offers but they seem to be hit or miss.

as SMC was on back order at the time. It is a very good battery so far.

Check out hobbyking for their turnigy line as well. Get a decent C rating.

I run a combination of turnigy 4s with 2x2s packs for my 1/8 e-buggy and truggy. Both work great.

Thanks for the suggestions! I couldn't find any 4S lipos on hobbyking with a high C rating (unless i wasnt searching correctly) I'm thinking about just going with a SMC (if they're in stock) or the ProMatch:) That seems like a pretty good price.

Anything over 30-35c is good. Past that its alot of marketing fluff. I would steer away from the SMC packs. I had some of their 2s 7200s and was unhappy with the amount of swelling that was considered "normal". I was looking at the promatch as well but have not yet given them a shot. My turnigy's have been outstanding over the past 18 months.

For my 2s pack that I run in series the R1Wurks 7200s have been absolutely fantastic.

Could you post up a link of one of the turnigy batteries that you're running?

Thanks! I didn't see that battery on there. I always have a hard time finding products off of hobbyking.

Is it safe to run these soft packs in RC cars though? I've used them in my airplanes but of course they isn't nearly as much impact on airplanes as there is in cars. I've been to a few tracks before where you had to run a hard case lipo. I would worry about puncturing the pack somehow. However, the price is very tempting.

Haven't had a problem yet with a few years of running. I would check with your local track if they allow it but around me, hasn't been an issue with several other racers running them.

The nano-tech pack looks decent but i would check the size of your battery tray to make sure it fits. I would honestly try and get one that had a bit higher mah but can easily get 15+ mins out in my e-truggy with 5000mah. Secondly the one I linked to is slightly lighter.

Two batteries are usually good enough for me. I always try to have a good racing battery and a cheaper battery...I don't know why but I've always done that. I have a nice lectron 2S battery for my 1/10 2wd buggy but also plan on picking up a Turnigy battery to try out.

So that cant happen if you buy a new lipo? :rolleyes:

The SMC 5000mah 50c packs have been good for us.
